A procession of approximately 300 people, including a musical ensemble, made their way toward a neighborhood only to be ambushed by gang members positioned atop rooftops. The assault claimed at least 61 lives and wounded 20 others, including seven children—the youngest victim being barely seven years old.
Additional survivors described being intercepted on their streets while heading home and subsequently dragged into forested areas where they were sexually assaulted.
